.223 vs 5.56 cases

Hello All,

I am interested in preparing 5.56 cases to use in a bolt action .223 rifle. I read the .223 vs 5.56 article, but I didn't see the specific answer I am looking for. The article discusses pressure differences between the two, and potential dangers using 5.56 cases,or ammo) in a rifle chambered for .223

So: I have alot of 5.56 military brass that I have shot thru an ar15, and may be ordering more from Scharch's. I want to add a bolt action .223 light rifle to my stable and want to reload these cases I have already.

What steps are needed to prepare 5.56 military cases to use them safely in a .223 chambered rifle....say a typical savage?

Thanks.

Tim

Just size 'em with a .223 Rem die and be done with it. If they have crimped primers you may need to swage the pockets so that you can get new primers in, but there isn't anything functionally different about the cases themselves.
