.223 Powders for 55gr and 69gr

Looking for some advice on where to start with 55gr v-max and 69gr matchkings. I have CFE223, x-termenator, Varget, 203-b and might could get my hands on some Accurate 2495 or Staball Match. I can't seem to find much new info other than the load manuals. Any real world help would be great. It's going in a Sig AR-15 20".

The 69 gr SMKs were very popular with XTC shooters for the 200 and 300 yard lines. Look for feedback from a SR shooter (20” barrel with 7-8” twist). I shot a 26” MR….

Varget for the choices you posted. 24-25 gr under the 69’s and you will find a sweet spot.

Winchester staball match, aa2520, varget and imr8208xbr are all powders that have performed well for me in my 18" ar15 shooting 69/77 sierras. For 55gr bullets I have been using h335 and w748 with the edge on accuracy going to w748. I shoot a nosler varmageddon 55gr with w748 thats pretty accurate.

Chevk this thread out for a lot of 556 data, youll see a trend, imr8208xbr snd varget but others work great too.

When I shot 69’s in xtc I used 322 and 748
This was before varget existed and I never changed until I switched to 77’s

Honestly I think my 322 groups were tighter than my varget groups

I use mostly H335 and some TAC with 55's in .223. Outstanding accuracy in my Rem 700. Probably half a dozen powders work well with 69 SMK's in an AR.

I went through a whole lb. of Varget with 4 different 69gr bullets and never found a load that shot as well as TAC, A2460 or Benchmark in my rifle with a 26" barrel.

H335 is my go to for that weight range. Your Tac would serve as well. Varget works for me but the little sticks jam my thrower and the charges have to be weighed. I like the ball powders for AR loading. With a little patience and practice, you can throw very accurate charges directly into the case and load hundreds of rounds at a time.
