223 only prs matched

Does anyone have information on 223 only matches like distances involved? A search didn't turn up much. Thanks.

I don't think they exist beyond private non sanctioned shoots so the distances could be anything. We have considered doing them here at our local club because the interest would most likely be high qnd it would generate good revenue. I have not had time due to life events to get this going but my plan was to stop at 600 yards. There are also many 22LR PRS type events.

A 223 will make hits very well out to 800 yards but spotting becomes iffy.

Try looking for NRL events instead of PRS. They seem to support the rimfire matches a bit more, at least around here.

NRL is the league you want to be in if in central Ill. Border Wars North Central is probably your zone. You can shoot 223 at sanctioned matches and do quite well if you know what you are doing. Spotting impacts can be problematic and you fight the wind a bit more. Still some amazing practice and you will learn a ton.
My spare/trainer is a 223 AI shooting 75 elds. I'm shooting a non sanctioned match to 850yrds with it for the first time next weekend. Not sure how far you want to drive but I rekon you might be 5 hours out?
Aroura has some PRS matches but I have never shot there. Not a fan of Ill so I avoid it.

Was at a shoot last year in southern MO and a shooter won the match (60+ shooters) with a 223. He was shooting it because he had already qualified for finals and didn't want to hog the show, as they say. Thrns out if you can shoot good enough even the lowly 223 can be competitive.

There wasn't anything close using .22's or they were limited to 100 yards. My cz452 does well at 400 yards from a bench.

The informal shoots need some central means of getting the info to others.

I am interested in getting a van for camping so traveling could be an option.
