223 OAL

I have a new Savage model 12 varmint in .223 Rem. The throat seems short to me. Loading a Barnes Varmint Gernade 50 gr. bullet the OAL of the loaded round to touch the lands is 2.190. Comments?

What twist barrel is it? Seems like a short throat varminting chamber from that info, but I haven't looked up a comparison on bullet length of the barnes vs something like a Sierra blitzking.

Twist has little to do with it, but might be an indicator of varmint vs. more general use.

All the Savage 12fv's Ive owned need to be seated 2.280" or longer to touch or be close to the lands, yours seems short to me.
