.223 across the course load

Was cleaning out the gun safe, and realized it's been years, since I had shot my AR. Was wondering what mag length across the course loads Highpower competators are using these days, it's been a couple of decades since I shot a service rifle match. Rifle is a white oak armory 1in8 twist.

I think a stereotypical load is 69 smk and like 25-26 grains of reloader 15 at mag length. Work up obviously but I've seen that combo print clover leaves in a good number of rifles. Ar comp loves that bullet too.

77smk does better with varget I think. Faster anyway.

But honestly you cant go wrong with reloader 15, ar comp, 8208xbr, varget, or h4895 under a 69 or 77 smk (or their 73/77grain berger analogs). Could probably get a combo of those sub moa out of a smooth bore.

Well a couple of Decades is only 2002 now. So those same loads are still being used today. 24gr of Varget or R15 are still the most popular across the United States with the 77gr SIerra Match King. Lake City Brass and CCI 450 primer. The newe primer on the street is the Federal 205 AR Match primer. H4895 ( 23.4gr) is also a great powder with both 77's and 69's as well. Since its so hard to get any of the powder above we are sing folks use all sorts of powders, like. N140, N135, TAC, New shooters World Powder, 2520, Lever evolution, CFE223, What ever you can get your hands on.
I personally have been using the Ball powder for Practice and keeping my H4895 for Match ammo to reduce the use of Varget, R15 or H4895.
Lots of folks using the Hornady 75gr bullet or the 77gr Lapua bullet. and every thing in between.

I find 23.8 to 24.0 grains of Shooters World So-62 Percussion works very well ?

R-15 is still a good one
Varget never gave me good scores at 600 yards. R-15 Did
N-140 is R-15 Brother from a different Mother .

This== Russ speaks volumes here. Load what you have to get at 75-77 gr bullet 2650-2800fps. The WOA 1:8 will shoot all of them under 0.75 MOA.

I dug through garage, found some Fed-205 match primers, leftover 50 & 52gr and 80gr Nosler custom comp. Hornady 68gr BTHP and 80gr A-max, Barnes 69 and 85gr match Burners, for powder, have Varget, H-4895, Win-748, H-322, N-133, and N-135. Should be able to make something work. Tried to start with Hornady 68gr BTHP and 24.0gr Varget, but there wasn't enough room in the case to seat it to 2.260. Starting over I even tried using a long drop tube funnel, best I could get it to was 2.265, without the seating stem pressing a ring into the nose. I will have to either reduce the charge, use a shorter bullet, or use different brass. The headstamp is ICC-NTF.

That sounds like a brass problem. My normal load is 24.3 Varget and a bullet, any bullet. I use Winchester, IMI, and Sig brass. If the brass is heavy and has less capacity you will need to reduce the charge.

Load up the Nosler 52's with 26.5-27.0gr of W748 at 2.240-2.245" with the 205's - out to 200 that load shoots tiny groups in about any rifle I shoot it in. Those little stubby bullets may be in the lands if you load them at max mag length so keep 'em shorter.

After starting and stopping several times due to life’s distractions myself, I found that things really didn’t change much with respect to the popular mag loads for 200, 300. I see things the same as the previous posts.
If anything, the biggest changes had to do with allowing the scopes.
Even the long line 600 yard loads didn’t change all that much, with just a few more new bullets compared to the usual SMK and Bergers being used. The same powders are still in vogue at 600 yards and the new TS-15.5 is still not widely available so it will need to be tested this year if it ever shows up.
There is a relatively younger primer from Federal, called the Match AR, with Folks who have been forced to try them after running out of their REM 7.5s reporting they like them.
Welcome back to the game.
