223 Ackley loads ?

I'm still trying to perfect loads for my 223ai also.
So far, I'm getting pretty good results with Varget, TAC, and AR Comp with 50 and 55 grain bullets. I started with max loads for the regular 223 and have been working up slowly.
I was getting very good accuracy with AR Comp and Varget but I was disappointed with the velocity. I am working with TAC now and the accuracy is there but I have not run those loads over the chrono yet. It seems that magnum primers are working better when using TAC.
Not too sure about using the regular 223 seating die.... I think not.
Just my limited experience,
Gary

You can use your standard 223 seater to load for fireforming only. Once you blow out the cases to the 40 degree shoulder, you must have a dedicated AI seater.

I'm another who has begun playing the 223 AI game. Roughly how much extra powder can I use safely? What kind of velocity increase can I expect to (safely) get? Printed data is hard to find.

i use 8208XBR and found a good load 2 gr more than my .223 and get 200+fps more with 52 gr cheek bullets. getting the .223 AI to feed from a mag is a problem. if i make another i'll use a coned bolt/chamber combo as these feed very smoothly. in general use .223 load data and increase by 1.5 gr, then buy .1 gr. excess pressure can slip up on you in this Ackley.

I have an 223 AI being built, mainly a mid-range prone, 30" Hart 1:8, any proven data for 69 and 80 grainers with, Varget, RE-15, AA2460 or TAC?

Interested in some data as well. Just finished a 700, Brux 25" 1 in 8", Mc Millan A5, Timney Calvin trigger. Will run it with an Elite Iron Bravo can. Going to be a coyote gun but 99% of the time my Trainer for use on my 500 yd home range on small steel plates.

Still in the getting it sorted out/fire forming brass stage. And need to get the barrel threaded for the can too.

Joe,
The RCBS Comp seater won't work on the ackley brass ?
Thanks Robert
I am not familiar with that particular seater, but if it uses a "chamber" type insert to line everything up, I don't think it would work properly. After you blow out the brass the shoulder will be 40 degrees of course, but the case taper is changed considerably so that the shoulder diameter is larger, too. I use Wilson seaters mostly & have them modified with the chambering reamer so they work with my wildcat cartridges. The best thing to do in your case is to call RCBS customer service and ask if you are still uncertain.

When my 6.5x55 BJAI was built, the Redding seating die had to be modified with my chambering reamer.
