I had a post 64 mod 70 XTR that was chambered in .222rem. It had been shot about 5-6000 rounds and groups were opening up some. (It use to be an honest 1/2" rifle at 100 yards.)
I thought I might be able to get the accuracy back by setting the barrel back and rechambering to .223 ack I had the action trued and the lugs lapped and new crown. It is averageing about 3/4" at 100 yards now I didn't gain a thing.
Time for a new barrel....It is a sporter weight I want to keep it that way.....Who's barrel would you recomend and why?
I will probably be shooting bullets 60 grains and under. Thinking about 1-9 twist or 1-10? Any body know anything about Brux? I have a friend who is pushing me that way.
