223 224?

220 Swift, 221 Fireball, 222 Rem., 222 Rem Magnum, the before mentioned 223, 224 Weatherby, and the list goes on and on. All use a 22 cal. jacketed bullet with a diameter of .224". ???

i just wanted to double check and make sure the 224 55 grain v-maxes i bought will shoot out of my ar. lol. ;D

Dumb question i know but had to make sure

You did right. .223 shoots .224" bullets. It's confusing, but .223 is the name of the cartridge and not the size of the bullet.

And to add to the confusion, early 22 Hornets used .223" sized bullets....

I never buy .223 sized bullet for my Hornet. I only shoot the .224 sized bullets (it's hard to beat VMax or Blitz). I have not noticed any problems in my newer Hornet barrel by Contender or an older Hornet barrel in a Sako bolt gun.

I always used .224 bullets in my Hornet. It easily had over 15,000 rounds through it when I traded it in. No issues. And a few months after I bought it, it was reamed to a K-Hornet. Still no issues.
