222 vs 100 score target

“Finished” load development on my old school 40X clone BR build. Thought it was time to put it against the IBS 100 score target. Did not shoot under match conditions. Once I started I shot all 5 targets. Didn’t shoot sighters past target 2 and only shot 5 sighters total. Rifle is:
Mack Brothers short single shot
Bartlein HV 1-12” twist 24” long
Jewel trigger
Wood stock was duplicated from early 70’s
original 40X BR stock
NF 15-55 comp
Target is best of the 5
I did all gunsmithing and stock work.

That is one great rifle that you have done, love to find a chunk of wood like that. Great job. You should be very proud.

Very very nice. I like it.

That is very fine shooting. I am not at all surprise by the performance of the 222 Rem, one the greatest cartridges ever designed.

While my Rem 700 sporter never shot that well or maybe it was me ;), it was a consistent 1/2 moa (off the bench) rifle for many years using IMR 4198, Sierra 50 grain bullets, and Remington 7 1/2 primers.

Guys…
I greatly appreciate all the comments and feedback. I also thank you all for keeping the thread on track and behaving like gentlemen. Too many times threads go wonky and people end up not being very nice or respectful of other’s opinions.
I gunsmith for a living. Personal projects like this 222 are labors of love that I do away from work in my own shop. The positive results of this post will likely entice me to share more of my back yard projects.

I would love to have that stock for sure, do you have anymore of that wood ? Great job all around.

Blank was purchased from Treebone Carving. He may have more like it. Quick internet search will turn up lots of nice blanks.
I have an original early 70’s 40XBR stock that was used as a pattern. Dan Rossiter at Custom Stocks and Steel did the duplicating work. Did an excellent job and there were no places over cut or undercut. Several hours with Prussian blue and scrapers to get all inletting done. Pics are blank before I started.

you did a super job. do you mind telling approx. cost of duplicating the stock? I have read that after the stock is duplicated, you still have to do a good bit of work on the stock to get it in good shape? Thanks in advance. Great build!
