222 to 6.5x47 lapua conversion

My cousin may be selling me his remington 600 mohalk target rifle in .222. I want to convert it to a 6.5x47 Lapua for long range target shooting. I am aware that i would need a new bolt and would buy a good quality target barrel but is there anything else i need to know?

you can modifiy the bolt to accept the 6.5 round and install a sako extractor . as for the rest how serious is your target shooting going to be, competition or just shooting with friends at the range ?competiton would requiry more upgrades . The Rifler

With the price of those Mohalk rifles increasing as they are, I would opt for an action for a build. If that 600 is in excellent shape you may be money ahead to sell it and buy other components for your 6.5X47L.

Not going to worry about the conversion now. going to keep to mohalk as is and built a 6.5x47 Lapua from scratch. Does anyone know where I can get a howa action only for .308, .22-250, .243 etc to use for my 6.5x47 Lapua that im building. My friend made his from a weatherby 308 action but the gunsmith told him that howa is a better action. If anyone knows where i can get a howa action only please let me know. Thanks
