222 Remington is still Hard to Beat!

Yes - agreed. Use one for many years quite successfully out to 200 yards or so on groundhogs.

IMR 4198 and Sierra 50 grain blitz bullets go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Incidentally, I use the same type of shooting aid, a cross sticks, as shown in your photo. However, mine is constructed of 1/2 solid aluminum rod bound with 1" Velcro. Been using this system for over 30 years now quite successfully out to 275 yards or so while sitting on a portable sportsman chair.

This system allows me a greater field of view, is highly portable, and adaptable to just about any terrain situation that I encounter hunting hogs and predators. With sitting on the chair, both elbows on the knees and feet flat on the ground, it's a very stable position.

It is a lovely cartridge. I reloaded and shot one for years.
Had a nice Tikka T3 rifle with Weaver 2-7 scope and it was a very accurate package.
Years ago you could buy a loose bag of Winchester .22 Magnum bullets.
That's the same bullet they bunged in their 'off the shelf' .22 Magnum cartridges.
I shot them with a reduced load and they performed well (and didn't use much powder).
Can you folks in the US still get those bullets in a loose bag (was 100 or 200 per bag from memory)?
Haven't seen them in NZ for a long time now.

Yes its sad 4198 and 8208 cant be found anytime we need some.

Im mostly buying Finland made powders anymore from here on out!

They actually make the Powder, Not bottle it and resale it as a different name!
Coming into a 222 way later than I like to admit, we are fortunate that it seems to “eat” what it is fed very well.
I went with AA2200 because I had a fair bit of it. I may try some Fin powder before I go direct to another 8lb of 2200.
FYI to those using 2200 don’t forget it was discontinued some years back, then the surplus Data 2200 arrived only to show back up again a few years later. I can recall H322 being what seemed as Hodgdons “ bread and butter”, everyone used it in something big or small.

Took mine pdog hunting, but never got around to shooting it. Took my fireball to 349. It's a hoot with 40gr vmax and a suppressor!
