I have been load testing my .222REM that has a long throat, here is my best load so far: Brass: Neck Turned Remington (annealed) / Bullet: Speer 50grn TNT / Primer: FED GM205M / Powder 24.0grn BENCHMARK / Necked Sized With Lee Collet Die (I believe it is a .001" neck tension). Shooting very small groups with the light neck tension(do to the turned necks) with the standard Lee collet die pilot. To all of you ho still shoot this grand ‘Ol cartridge, do you find better accuracy with light, medium, or heavy neck tension? Or does it have to do with powder selection? Thanks guys-
I don't want to neck turn however, the rifle came back from Pac-Nor with a tight neck and a long throat when I had it rebarreled eleven years ago. It was the 1st rifle that I had rebarreled. It was a learning experience as in, I learned how to neck turn brass. On a positive note, it does shoot very well.I know Russel does, but do the rest of you turn your necks?
