222 or 223 for benchrest accuracy

I have a robertson ranger stock with a barnard S action and a kreiger barrel sitting at my gunsmith awaiting instructions on a chamber, so FOR PURE ACCURACY ONLY at 100 and 200 yards but no more than 300 FROM A BENCH only, which is better for pure accuracy from a SEB rest,

and if so which bullets for each, 222 good for which grain size,

223 for the 52 grain bullets,

your thoughts please, as I only want to do this once,

I am also ordering a dakota varminter with a heavy barrel so may do one of each but which one will produce the best accuracy ( or have a greater chance)

222......from everything i've read, for myself, trying to decide between sticking with 223ai or going to 222.......it's a good 99% favoring 222 for accuracy at 100-200yds

Call me old fashioned and seems some have no issues with insinuating I am not the smartest knife in the drawer but I have a soft spot for the 222. Never owned a factory gun that shot bad and the first Custom target gun I built when I had a bit of a clue about what to do/use was a Shilen SS blank on an XP action in 89 and it just shot anything great I tried in it. Had to give it to twin brother for helping me out financially about 5yrs later and he still has it. Own a bunch of 223's in AR's and 3 older Varmint Specials and another real shooter with a Border blank I built but still like my 222 Varmint Special more for whatever reasons. Guess the more popular the 223 gets the 222 and the 222mag will always be my choice over it!

the 223 never matched the 222 or 222m, the 222m did in some rifles = the 222 at 100, equal or beatit at 200 and will beat it at 300,

Bob Hart, i and others shot the 222m in the 70's with the results listed. if you are considering 300 the 222m will be the better choice 222 next then the 223
