222 low pressures

Can anyone tell me why the 222 data in most manuals list max loads at fairly low pressures?! Is it the case design as it surely cannot be the rifles built in that caliber! Thanks, Tom

SAAMI pressure specs are 50000 psi. for the .222. I doubt you will see a reloading manual list loads for anything above that.

Break action combination guns have been made in that caliber, as well as single lug bolt actions. The case is plenty strong. If you have a modern bolt action with two lugs, do a careful workup paying close attention and you should be fine. About all that I use manuals for is a safe starting load for a workup.
