222 brass from 223 questions

I tried to form some 222 from 223 Lapua. I end up with a noticeable crease in the new neck where the neck shoulder junction was. Problem is with my gun I need to turn these or they will be too tight. Now what? I have not tried to run them through a die with an expander. Will need to try it.

Any thoughts?

I have seen this on some cases I have formed. I just went ahead and turned the neck and inspected them to see if there were any hole in the neck shoulder area and shot them. They work OK for me. I would also check the necks every now and then to make sure they worked in any tight neck chamber. Good luck!!!!!!!!

Make sure that you mike the neck thickness. forming causes the shoulder of the 223 case to be sized down to a portion of the 222 neck causing it to be too thick. Mine required neck turning to not cause excessive pressure.

Why not just buy some 222 cases, they seem to last a LONG time with neck collet dies?
