221FB loads?

I have a 221FB coming back from a smith and was hoping the componets I have will due. I was planning on using H4198 with a 40gr Nosler BT. Anyone tried that and how well do they shoot? My rifle is a Cascade Excelsior so I dont expect benchrest accuracy. Thanks Brian

Both of my 221 Fire balls shoot fantastic with RL-7 and the 40 grain BT.
No reason yours won't shoot well with H-4198 unless it just don't like it....
I do use Remington 7 1/2's in both of mine....

Mine liked Reloder 7 and IMR4198 with bullets in the 50-52 gr. range. The Hornady 50 gr. SX is a nice bullet in this cartridge.

Mine shoots 19.0g RL7 and 15.7g H4227 with 40 grain bullet, ww brass and caps. H4227 shot slightly better. 40g V-max much more explosive than BT and slight edge in accuracy.

Can't recall charge, but Lil Gun did 3600+ in my SGY fireball 24" bbl I believe with 40gr vmax, flat for me with almost no recoil. Oh, accurate to boot.

For 40g bullets I use 20 grains of Vit N130, use a drop tube to get it in, supper acurate. For loads I shoot around the 3500 fps area I use Vit N120.
