221 Fireball Question

Wondering if anyone has tried CFE BLK powder in the 221 fireball. It looks like it could have some merit in this size case.

I bought some by mistake, They had some at Sportmans Warehouse on sale, price was right so I bought it. I didn't know what I was going to do with it. Definitely not for the Fireball as 4227 and LilGun work very well in my rifle. I started looking up the data on the powder and found a load to try. It shot as well as my goto powders. Don't hesitate to try it in your Fireball.

I'm using RL-7 and A2200 in my 20VT and FB's, and have not tried CFE BLK, but have read here and elsewhere that it's very good in the FB case for both accuracy and velocity.

I know a guy that runs it in his 221FB, it's his favorite powder for that case. I'm swimming in 1680, so will use it all up before trying it. It's awesome in a 7.62x39 AR, I can personally attest to that.

My favorite 221 FB powder. Shooting 40 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips and 20.8 gr CFE BLK. Hodgdon data shows good velocity and relatively low pressure for this max load. Accuracy has been in the high 0.2's to the low 0.3's. Accuracy improved as I increased powder charge to the Hodgdon max. Try some. I believe it will leave you smiling.

It did well in 20 VarTarg for me, and it's my go-to powder for 17 Hornet. The 20VT is very close to the 221, and would recommend the RL-7, N120 and A2200 as great options to try.

RE-7 seems to have been the gold standard for the FB
for many years.

Someone on here recommended CFE BLK and I tried some.

It gave very good accuracy and burned very clean-----this was
good enough tp make me buy more. I still have a little RE-7,
just in case.
