.221 Fireball AI???

Bought a lightly used barrel from a gent at the Great Falls, MT gunshow in '97 IRC. It was a Weisman/McMillan chambered in '221 Dart'. Smith in Helena, MT had done the work. Finally tracked him down cause I wanted chamber specs to see about recutting it to something else vs buying an expensive set of custom dies. It had 40 degree shoulder and he gave me body taper specs. It was just under a 223AI at the shoulder so a smith friend with AI reamer recut it. Never did do any digging into the '221 Dart' to see if it was somewhat common or a one off design by the seller of the barrel or the smith?

I had one, and not much difference in performance. In case trimming, there isn't as much with the AI. The hassle of forming and die buying, on top of the stock 221 fireball dies I had in-stock... wasn't worth it to me.
I went back to a tighter neck one, and a no turn on the other.
The 20 Vartarg, 20SCC, etc... would be a better choice for further distances.
