I posted this about a week ago but didn't get much response. I have just started using 1680 a short time ago and have seen 3700 fps with 40 vmax Rem 7.5 and 223 brass formed to 221. 20 gr of 1680 is about 3675 with good groups @ 200 yds. This is in a cooper classic with a 22" barrel.

I had a 26" VSSF 223 cut off and rechambered to the Fireball that ended up at 24 1/2". I ran mine at 3500 with 7 1/2's, 1680, & 40 grain Ballistic Tips.

I wore that barrel out shooting prairie dogs & was a safe load at all temps out on the prairie. Was a fun gun and the first one out of the truck most days.....hated to see it die.

Never chrono'd my 221FB, but best accuracy is with 40 gr. Sierra and 18 grs. RE7. RE7 has exactly the same burn rate as AA1680.

I never used the 40's stayed with the 50s because of the wind, 22" 40x hart 14 twist, easy 3100with this powder and 7 1/2's in 221 rem brass would shoot in the low .200's

I have found different variances in lot to lot of 1680 powder. I stick to the tried and true 4198 & 4227 powders. I SHOOT the 40`s up close & the 50`s further out..
