221 Brass Availability

I was considering buying a Cooper in 20 VarTarg but a friend told me that .221 brass is very hard to find currently. Can anyone confirm if this is the case? Thanks in advance.

A quick look through the normal places to order, midway, cabelas, brunoshooter, grafs et..) shows everyone to be out of stock.

IIRC, 221 FB brass is a seasonal thing. Meaning they'll make a run of it once a year and when it's gone, it's gone until next time.

You might check Ebay

i made some brass for 17 fb from win .222rem it was kind of a pia and the case capacity was slightly less but it works great___treeman

Dang it...once again, I'm wrong. Please don't tell the wife!

Sorry about that. Guess I was thinking of something else. :,

I form mine from 223 brass. The neck on the Remington brass is quite a bit shorter than the SAMMI spec that the chamber is cut to.

Just run the 223 brass thru your 221 FL die and trim.

221 brass is a problem. I've had 2000 pcs. on back order at MidSouth since July. I had 1000 pcs. on back order for 3 months at Cabellas and they cancelled the order. 17FB is nowhere to be found at this time.

I have a lot of brass in inventory but, I shoot a 221, three 20VT's and now a 17FB so my situation will get critical this summer. Let's hope.

You might consider building a 20 Tactical. You can use .223 brass or Lapua brass. You can help but love the VarTarg though. I love mine.
