220 Swift??

Winchester has made swifts for years. My favorite Winchester is the Heavy Varmint series, made out of their custom shop in the 90s. They shoot! I also have a Remington VSSF that shoot very tight.

Ruger made the for awhile not any more.
I have an older ruger m77 target in 220 swift an absolute tack driver. Its an all around great gun. 55gr vmax just hits groundhogs so hard. And i dont care what anyone says about .22 caliber and whitetail deer. That swift has drop 15 years worth of deer right in their track with 60gr spire points or 62 gr barnes ttsx.
Been thinkin about a 220 Swift. Been kinda wantin one for years.. Does anyone beside Rem make a Swift?

My pal has a Ruger .220, mkII up for sale with 2000+ pcs brass, dies, spanking new melonite douglas 26" barrel, etc.
PM me if you want details, price
Savage made the M112 in .220S also.
I bought a Ruger M77, .220S in 74 & sold it in 2005.

I hear you on the deer. I've used 60grain partitions on deer, my daughters all used that combo too. Devastating.

Forgot about Cooper, Looks like Winchester doesn't make m any longer, or Ruger. Remington doesn't seem to offer the VSSF any longer just the SF.

Lightly used swifts come up constantly on Gunbroker. I've bought both a VSSF and a Winchester Heavy Varmint off there in the last six months. Remington still makes a heavy barreled swift but I would wait and find a clean VSSF.

I didn't realize the heavy varmint series came from the custom shop. I have a swift in one, before the barrel went South it was deadly, I bought it new, should have bought 2. I've since bought a lightly used 243 in the heavy varmint, it too is super accurate. If your in the market, keep looking you will not be disappointed with the Winchester H.V.

Here is Remington's VSF - current production.

There's a VSSF but it's over priced and no heavy Varmints listed currently.

Coopers are great rifles. Ruger numbers ones are kinda cool too.

I love those rifles, I'm lucky enough to have one in every caliber they made. My Brother bought one back in the nineties and laughed at him for buying a Winchester push feed when he had other options. He put a jewel trigger in it and converted me quickly when we started loading for it. They just shoot! Like you said, "you will not be disappointed"

Long live the Mighty Swift!
It's still tough to beat after all these years and new cartridges that have come and gone.
I sure wish that Lapua would make brass for it.....

My Swift is a 112 Savage single shot with a factory varmlnt contour barrel. Don't know if Savage still makes the 112 in 220 Swift or not.

There are other brands that make the 220 swift. I purchased mine about 6 months ago. I went remington 700 with a millet 6x24x56 scope. The the out of box trigger pull was a bit much so i adjusted down to 2.5 lbs. I use the hornady 55 grain vmax and have it zeroed at 200 yards shooting sub MOA.

I just gave my Rem. classic 220 swift to my son for a graduation present. I bought the gun new In the early 90's, shot 4 or 5 boxes thru it and placed it in the back of the safe. Decided I wanted to give it to him so I dusted it off worked up some loads and now I'm having second thoughts. Gun flat out shoots, 50 gr v-max 38 gr imr 4064. I did put a timney trigger on it also. He shot it yesterday and still has the smile on his face. Finally shot a group that would make anyone proud(7/16").
