My 1-14 Swifts will shoot 55gr Vmax's which is about the longest 55 out there. If you want to go heavier you might as well go to a 1-9, it will still shoot the smaller weights well but you can then go up to 75's.

My 1-14 Swift will barely stabilize 55 gr Sierra BKings. Combination of the boattail and plastic tip makes them too long. At 100 metres tough to get a one inch group. Some of the bullet holes are slightly oval.

But the Rem VSSF is very accurate with 55 gr Sierra spbt because the lead tips are 0.1 inch shorter than the plastic tips and will stabilize in the 14 twist.

I would go with a 1-12 if you are sure you will only shoot bullets below 60 gr. You won`t have problems with the plastic tips with the 12 twist.

Go to the Berger website and find their Stability Calculator, plug various bullets and velocities in you will have your answer.

I would think the OP should have it figured out by now, 10 years later. I may even guess the throat is done in that barrel.
