When this powder first came out I had asked about this. I am wondering if anyone has tested the combination and has any data for it. Accuracy, velo, coal. I'm not sure if I'd try to run 55 sbk or btip, 50 vmax or btip.
Be out of a factory swift vssf 26".

Thanks in advance.

Seabed thank you, yeah it seems it they've data for most cartridges around the swift but not it. I have 4lb lying around I'd like to use as a mainly hunting load which would last me quite awhile. With the temp stability i think itd be a good powder foe my uses. I agree with the price of alliant, ridiculous to me but if they're willing to pay I guess.

No unfortunately. 3 kids under 4 don't give too much time for tinkering haha. I read about a guy getting at 4k with 40 gr load and a 50gr bullet but was seeing if there were others who had. I'll hopefully start sooner than later with that soon to see how it'll shoot.

It isn't much but I borrowed a friend's magneto. Shot 5 different charges one shot each starting at 36.5 in 1/2 grain increments to 38.5.
I had light catering on primers at the 38.5. Easy extraction. This was just a velo test with different charges. Will do an accuracy test later.

36.5. 3628
37. 3658
37.5. 3685
38. 3728
38.5. 3757

I did some more testing with 15.5 and settled on 38.5 gr at around 1/2". The grouping for the other load were just over an inch or less. I'm satisfied the results. I did shoot up to 40gr and had swipes on the 40 with velo at 3883.

I could push and try the 39 gr but I don't know that I'm really gaining much. I plan on shooting mainly fall-early spring. My 5 shots with the chrono were between 3769 and 3790. I realized after that I had bullets that varied in weight to an extent. It's possible I shot some varying between 54.9 and 55.15 gr. I found one in a sample the weight 53.98 so I'll be weighing them and putting like with like.

I'd also say the powder seemed to be 80-90% fill so not terrible. I believe the velo is pretty good for this weight.
Loaded COAL is 2.732. I'm not real great with write ups but it seemed to be a powder that works with the swift.

Bear with me here but here is a group at 260 with 4 shots. Shot with a drone. X marks aim point. First shot was lower and not a flyer. I forgot my aim point. It was obviously lower.

iMR4064, which may be easier to find, is a forever favorite 220 Swift powder. In an article way back in the 70’s, some gun writer said 38.5 gr of 4064 was a magic load. I worked up to it, and have used that load for over 40 years behind Nosler 55 gr Solid base Boattails, 55 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, and 55 gr Sierra GKs
