.22 wmr

i have a savage model 93 .22 wmr that misfires about 3 out of 10 times it has been like this since it was bought.so i just put it away and just took it out again recently,4-5 years later.it is very accurate shooting quarters at 75 yards.has anyone had similar problems or know how to fix .i was told to take apart the bolt.strech the spring, but i cant see how to take it apart.

That might be best left for a gun smith. If I only had a nickel for every time I thought something couldn't be that difficult.

Bernard, RangerRob is right about a gunsmith, but there is a quick test you can do to help. The next time it fails to fire, wait at least 30 seconds,,longer is better), then extract the round and look at the firing pin strike. If it is barely dented, it may be the firing pin itself is too short or the pin fall is being blocked or slowed down. Compare it to a round that fired. The pin strike should be deeper. If you take it to a "smith, take the round that didn't fire and the hull that did. It will give him a quick place to start.

If you have some different ammo, try it. It's unlikely to be the problem, but worth checking out.

Good luck, Tom
