22 nosler heavy bullet loads?

With Michigan on lockdown you think about ways to improve things that already work.

Ive got a 22 nosler 1-8T AR that does a good job for me using 55gr flat base bullets. Its a killing critter gun not a match rifle, ive got a White Oak for that. But I'm wondering if its worth messing with 70-80 gr bullets loading to mag length. Has anyone experimented with it?

Ive got 69gr TMK, 73gr ELD, 75gr Amax. 80gr ELD, not opposed to trying others if I can get my hands on them.

Splat effect is dependent on velocity/ bullet design. The 69tmk's would be as heavy as i would go to avoid diminishing returns. 69tmk's really splat good and very accurate. For deer the 70 accubond is great.

You won't get 80s in a mag although I've seen a modified one for match shooting. 80s are used for long range as in 600 yards HP matches and loaded single shot, use 77s in a 1-8 barrel.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm thinking I might try a load with the 69TMK or 73gr ELD. I didnt think the 80s were going to work but i have some laying around from testing in FT-R rifles
