22 magnum Scorpion gone

Got it back from Volquartsen. Ran 200 rounds through it. Still getting 3% fail to cycle rate with 40 grain ammo. Maybe I am too fussy but I am not happy with results especially for such an expensive piece. Got rid of it. Yes, I took a big loss financially, but if I cannot enjoy owning/shooting it, why keep it?

I've often thought of getting an autoloading 22WMR and keep seeing tales of woe. VQ too I see.

I like (but am hesitant) the newer Savage A22M because of the delayed opening feature and the desirability of that delayed opening with a suppressor.

The round apparently does not lend itself to reliability.

I've got about 300 thru a Kel Tec CMR 30 with maybe two or three fail to fire. Only one of those rounds fired with a second try so I feel the unit itself is fairly reliable. Not being a traditional rifle though I understand might be a turn off for some.

Used to own an H&K 300. Had no functioning issues with it. Sold it do to frustration with accuracy of 22WMR ammo at time. They are a little pricey now. Bought the one I had approx 35 years ago when the dollar was strong and the DM weak.

I had a Savage A22M also. Shaved the bullets something awful. Barrel area where it was threaded into the receiver looked like it had a grinder in it after just one box of ammo. Plus the trigger was awful. Tried to fix trigger myself and failed. Went back to Savage. Trigger improved but still not good. Dumped it for that reason. Functioned well though.

Just enjoy shooting and get yourself
or work up a nice bolt action rifle and remove a lot of issues a semi-auto has.

I have an Anschutz 1516 in 22 mag and love it. Sub moa at 100 yards. I wanted a s.a. handgun in it and nothing seems to handle the cartridge reliably.

Don't forget, this tread isn't about rifles but semiauto handguns.

Okay, guess I didn't know what a VQ Scorpion was. Seemed like everyone was posting about .22wmr rifles and followed suet. I deleted my, contentions to 'mongo', post. Carry on gentlemen!!
