22 Mag rifle

I am kinda getting the itch for a 22 Mag rifle, really don't know why. A buddy of mine had an Anshutz several years ago and it was a really good shooting field rifle. Is there anything out there that might be comparable without going the $ load for the Annie. It won't get shot very much anyway.

Can't remember if it was a Model# 882 or 982 although one of our members at the club shoots one of these and with the ballistic tips, it's very accurate, easily a match for the Annie. I've shot both and you can't beat the Marlin for $.
Should be able to pick one up easily for a lot less than 1/2 of the Annie.
Good luck,

Markr,
Being retired and having nothing but fun these days shooting 4 different brands of Rimfire Rifles, I can tell you that available funds for rifles isn't what it once was. So of course available fund will dictate, at least in part, what you can afford to buy. Now none of my rifles are "Mags", but I shoot for best accuracy which is my number one concern. And with Rimfires, each rifle likes it's own flavorof ammo to best preform in terms of ultimate accuracy. SO I'm not sure exactly what your use for a new rifle would be, but I have a very versatile and EXTREMELY accurate Anschutz 64 MPR that you can use for Target shooting as well as hunting if you like. I don't do any hunting anymore, but compete in local events. As much as I like my other rimfires, none shoot as consistently as the Annie. I mean I can hang with the Custom jobs (that I'd love to have), the Remington 40X's up to a point and often outshoot them with the basic 64 MPR that I've added a tuner to in order to fine tune the barrel using competition ammo. Only draw back of my Annie is she is on the heavy side, especially with the tuner. But there are plenty of other models of Annie that are both for target and sport shooting that are much lighter, but have similar excellent barrels. I can honestly say that in more than 50 years of shooting all different brands and even custom made rimfires, you simply cannot find a finer made rifle OUT OF THE BOX than an Anschutz. But make no mistake, Annie's aren't cheap but like with any other brand, you get what you pay for, no doubt. And go out and feel a few different brands, because what may look good on the shelf, may feel like crap in your hands. Even the CZ's, Coopers and other finely made brands don't feel as comfortable to me than my Annie. BTW, she cost me $1150 new. But she's worth every stickin penney. Good luck and have fun regardless which rifle you end up with.

I certainly wouldn't argue against an Anschutz, being a big fan myself. I have 2, a 1710 DL and a 2013 BR50, and wouldn't even think of giving 'em up. That said, they are big $$ items & you may not want to dig that deep for a rifle. The next best thing I know of, at a much lower price, would be a CZ 452/455. One of these, with a $20 YoDave trigger kit, will come fairly close to Anschutz performance at a greatly reduced price. For about half the price (or less) of an Annie 64 or maybe a quarter the price of a 54 you can get a really nice CZ. I have 2 - 452's, a Full Stock and a Silhouette, and am very pleased with their performance. The FS, especially, is also a delight to look at & handle.

True, these are all .22 LR's, but they're also available in .22 WMR. If a lever or pump gun melts your butter, Henry makes some very nice ones at a very modest price.

I've had 3 CZ 452's in .22 LR and all shot very well although they are starting to get scarce as I believe they are discontinued. I've never shot a CZ 452, .22 Magnum, not sure if they shoot well or not but if you want one you might want to jump quick. Try Whittaker Guns in KY, good people w/ great pricing. Seem to always be able to get stuff when others can't.
Good luck,
