22 Hornet in Anschutz

I recently purchased a used 1432 Anschutz in 22 Hornet. I need some pet loads as my test loads so far have been in the 2" range. Starting to get worried about the gun.

I have several Hornets and in all 13.0 LIL gun over a 42 Calhoon or an easier to get 40 Vmax I use fed sm rifle primer. evry Hornet I own shoots 1/2" with this load. This also gets good velocity 3050-3100fps.

Thanks, I have loaded a few rounds with 13 gr. of Lil Gun and the 40 gr. Hornady V-Max and will give them a try.

I now remember how finicky this round has been in the past to load.

+1 on the 13.0 gr of Lil' Gun/40 gr. Vmax. Also consider using the Lee Factory Crimp Die for the Hornet. It seems to contribute to the uniformity of the neck tension. Also, consider using a small pistol primer, it may help to tighten up your groups, as well.

I can now breathe again! Was afraid I had an expensive safe queen.

The load of 13 gr. of Lil Gun with the Hornady 40 gr. V-Max shoots in the 3/4" area on first trip out. I'm pretty sure the groups will improve with a little experimentation in seathing depths and other minor tuning.

LiL Gun saved my hind end with a K-Hornet. It was the only powder that would group at all. Later, I found pits in the throat area of the encore barrel I was using. It is now a 22BR that shoots like a lazer beam.
