22 Dasher at 1k

Yesterday I thought I'd give the 22 Dasher a run at 1k and see how it fairs at this distance. I'm impressed but I'm gonna call a lot of luck on this. Once I got sighted in I put three on the plate and here are the results.

This photo was taken on the ranges camera system. After I left a buddy I shoot with drove down and measured the shots and said it was just under 1" for 3 shots.

Those 22's do shoot although I doubt I'll ever put three in under 1" at 1k ever again I'm pretty happy with that.

I got a 22 dasher reamer but haven't had the balls to get a barrel spun up yet. But after seeing this I might grow a set. Haha. Nice shooting.

Great shooting If the target you posted was shot at 1K and that is 1'' I don't ever want you measuring my target. ;D Larry

Larry the measurements were the dimples where the bullet impact is. Not the overall paint missing. Nice thing as I was looking thru the scope I could see that impact area get larger on each hit.

Please don't build one just based off this target. I doubt in my lifetime I'll ever put three shots in a tiny wad like that again at 1k. It was all luck and I'm sure nothing about it is repeatable.

Very nice, James! What muzzle velo Are you getting with that load? I've been playing around with a 22BRDX using 33.5gr of H4350 with 80.5 WS2 coated Full Bores. My MV is running 3125ish. Looks like I could go up a bit on powder charge.

3400 fps

James

I've been wanting to build one for awhile. Which is why I bought the reamer but my plan was to use 90gr Bergers or JLKs but I read they quit making the 90s.

James...I'm having a problem getting my extreme velocity spread to a reasonable number. What kind of numbers are you running? Also, after less than 200 rds. my bore is starting to fire crack.

My ES is 4-6 and yea the 22 Dasher is good for 700-800 rounds and it's toast.

James I have noticed on other post you got some good shooting rifles what discipline are you shooting or do you shoot matches at all.

Stan,

Yes I started back shooting IBS 600 late in 2014 and most of this season. It was an up and down season this year but hopefully I've gotten the bugs and cobwebs worked out and will be more consistent next season.

Good job we need more shooters shooting long range especially if you got young shooters to bring in to the game we shoot maybe next year you might get a chance to come an shoot with us in Wva.

I had planned to make a shoot there this year but it just didn't work out. I shot most of my matches west from where I live. I made one match to Piedmont, I'll make a few more matches that way next season and will be at y'alls range at least once.

Barrel is a Brux 8 twist 28" and the bullet is a Sierra 80 grain Moly pushed with 35.8 grains of H4350
James has found that H4350 has low SD and ES. He also will tell you throat erosion and fire cracking is far less then any other powder he has used. Larry

Larry,

I've only used one powder in the 22Dasher and it worked and I've never looked for anything else. As for low ES yes I'm shooting in the single digits and as for throat erosion I've always have said it'll burn a barrel out quickly. One could send the barrel to have it treated and that'll help on erosion or should help.
