.22 Creedmoor Website... classic

I see that's by Horizon Firearms. I also saw a video they did where someone came to shoot a Texas buck with a 22 CM they built. I can't remember the range, but it was over 400 yds. The buck ran off and was never found. Of course they said it was a miss by the shooter.

The one that caught my eye was. . . . .

"at 1000 yards, it has enough kinetic energy for hunting deer"
I mean, to be fair, 424 lbf is pretty much equivalent to a 9mm point blank, so ignoring everything that is required to deliver the bullet on target, it could definitely kill a deer if it made it into the vitals. :p

They have got a heck of a marketing department, that is for sure. Id like to try a 22 Creedmoor in an AR10, or similar for night hunting in caliber restricted states. Definetly wouldnt be my first choice or long range deer hunting though:)

This has to be another Aggie Joke.

You wish. We alll wish. What was once the gunrag has found a willing and able host in the internet.

Not well.

I can't fault the Red engine for what they're doing, and the Creedmoor is a fine little cartridge. Arc, PRC, Valk, etc. probably are also.

I just hate the BS of pages like that one. And to be clear, to my knowledge, Big Red has NOTHING to do with that drivel.

1,000 yard deer. Goodness. I was always operating under the well accepted ideas--if anybody thinks numbers kill deer--that 800-1,000 ft/lbs, and 1,800+ fps at impact were a pretty good bottom end for intentional shots with small-caliber, high velocity rifles.

What they advocate there---intentionally throwing what amounts to two .22LR slugs worth of bullet into a 250-lb animal, with only 400-some lbs of residual energy---well, that is a terrible idea.

To be fair, none of the .22-243 Middlestead, .220, .22-47L, .22-250AI, .22 TTH (.22-6mmAI), etc. "generally accepted massively overbore twenty-twos" would do much better.

.220 Redline (.22 SAUM) might, but only if you had 100+ grain bullets that could hang tough, and still upset when they got there.

But nobody is out here marketing any of THEM as though it's a good idea to use them to shoot deer at a grand.

A lot of people are obsessed with velocity. Had a guy with a burnt our 257 Weatherby ask me to chamber him a new barrel to shoot 80? gr. bullets. I told him I didn't have that reamer and it would cost extra but he could go to Shilen and they could fix him up. He did and they did. He'll be a frequent visitor. Sometimes it's not what you can do but why would you want to do it.
