.22 creedmoor data on the internet

Does anyone look at the facebook .22 creedmoor website? Some of the posts are almost unbelievable. I recently read a poster saying he was getting 3400 out of a 90gr with a 22" barrel. He became quite offended when I told him there was no combination of loads/rifle that would do that at anywhere near a safe pressure. He told me I was wrong and he had data from a loading site saying it was a
54000 load at 87 F.
From the posts I read, the number of shooters reloading this cartridge at very high pressures must be in the hundreds.
Just my observations.

Yes there are a number of people out there that are just ignoring reality with this cartridge. Its problem is it seems it is one that doesn’t show pressure so they just load it up and feel safe. There’s a few out there warning that it’s easy to go way beyond safe pressure but that advice gets ignored.

The BB in lots of these guys heads !!

Friends and I have a number of 22 CM s …. Very high performing cartridge. If you re getting 3200 ish fps with an 88/90 gr bullet and a 26-27” barrel then you re “there” … any more and asking for trouble, issues in our experience.

What is your pressure
estimate for 3400 with the 90 gr in the 22" ? I would say in the 75k range but I have no data to back that up.

I have one with a 28” barrel that makes 3180fps with 95s and they don’t seem to stiff, no hard bolt lift anyway.
I’ve only used IMR4451 in it because it worked well out the gate and I didn’t want to waste barrel life testing different powders. The 3400 fps claim sounds pretty hot to me.

I was on that FB page (22CM) for a while. Finally got tired of the stupid velocity claims and dumped the page.

I know the Alpha brass will take a lot without showing. Peterson will go pretty far up but sounds like not quite as high as the Alpha. I don’t know where the Lapua stands or any of the 22-250 brass that has been used. I wonder if it’s mostly the tough Alpha and Peterson that gets away with it?
