22 Creedmoor and 85.5 bergers

On the Hodgdon website, they give some high velocity with the new Ramshot Grand powder behind a Berger 85.5 Hybrid. Has anyone tried that powder yet? It's one space slower than H1000. Maybe a Magnum primer would be needed.

It's interesting to note that they only loaded the Grand powder to 57,000PSI while all the other powders were loaded to 60,000+PSI. More velocity with less peak pressure. You can't beat that.

85.5 didn’t like being pushed in 223 with long freebore. They might work well in a hot cartridge, but these bullets were designed for a service rifle, short 20” barrel and slower speed

I tested out the new Ramshot Grand powder; I started at Fed 210 primer Alpha Brass 43.5grs for a 3,160 and stopped at 46grs ignited by a Federal 215 in Alpha brass. The average velocity was a whopping 3,390 S.D of 20.0, producing a tight 1/2 MOA at 100 yards.

I have a 1:7 twist 26" barrel on my Accuracy International cut by PVA. A bit over VV book max n565 in alpha small rifle brass
Which primer are you using? I have alpha SRP brass and I’m going to use N565 with the 88eld. I do not have any magnum SRP

BR4. I haven't shot it colder than about 60 degrees. If it was any a range toy I'd probably use large rifle primers to avoid potential issues.

I'm using a CCI 450 in SRP Alpha cases. The combo works very well with the 85.5 Berger and a full load of IMR7977 or H1000. Very good accuracy and low SD was observed with RE17 but I'm nearly out and there should be more modern powders that work as well.
