Just curious what you all thought of the 22 Creedmoor for whitetail hunting with 90 gr Hornady A-tip's
the distances of 200 yards and less?
I have a real good load with those bullets and would like to give it a go, like I say just curious.

Go with, the 6MM Creed or, 6 XC and shoot,.. the 108 gr Berger Elite Hunters at,. 3,000 FPS or,..
a 95 grain, Classic Hunter at,.. 3,200 FPS.
I've used, a .22-250 on Deer when, I was, Young and Dumb,.. NO thanks,.. NEVER, again !

IMO,.. the .22 Creed.,.. is a FINE, accurate, small Varmint and Predator Cartridge.
When My Rem 700, .22-250 Barrel, "goes South",.. I'll put, a .22 creed barrel on it.
But I like, a 6MM Bullet or, Bigger for,.. Deer / Antelope, as I HATE,.. "Tracking" wounded, Chit !
ALWAYS,.. Use ENOUGH Gun
My .02 cents,.. as usual

Pretty much all the deer I have shot with a 223 and 22-250 have been bang flops none have gone more than 100 yds. As I have said before you need to be willing to pass up shots that you might take with a bigger caliber. Her in Md. we can use any cartridge with at least 1200 ft pounds of energy. I have used 75 AMax, 55 and 65 sierra game kings but not Atips

Idaho, You know where I'm coming from!

I can’t speak to the 22 creed or the 90gr ATips but over on rokslide there is a massive thread about the 77 TMK and all the creatures killed with it. I’m a fan of ‘bigger is better’ but it’s hard to argue with the real world results shared.

I don’t have any experience with a 90 grain A-Tip and deer sized game. I do have a lot of experience with a 220 swift shooting 60 grain partitions on deer sized game and the results were fantastic. All of my seven kids took their first deer with that rig and several more were tagged out too. Zero lost deer, only 2 deer that ran, ran under 60 yards and were lung shot. It’s a lethal combo. As long as you’re choosing your shots wisely and ethically, like you need to do with any cartridge, it was lethal. Just wish I could comment on the bullet you’re asking about.

I will add that I know guys who are lethal with smaller cartridges and I know guys who aren’t lethal with just about any cartridge. Shot placement, shot selection and a little experience are far more important than cartridge choice. Just my opinion.

Im also a little shocked to read here how tuff these animals have become. A 90gr bullet in the rite place will switch off all the lights

I won’t disagree one bit.
However, error for what ever reason causes issues.
I am of the belief a larger caliber with marginal hits in a kill zone, has enough hydraulics to impart more shock.
I don’t even care for 6mm. A fellow I ran with years ago was a big 243 advocate, along with being a neck shooter. Over a period of years I saw him do a bang flop. We walked to the critter and he flopped it over preparing to field dress. He grabbed a tuft of hair and the rodeo started. Deer jumped up and ran off, only after kicking him in the stones pretty good. He was pale the rest of the day.

Forward a couple of years. I was in a position to see a lot of area. Watched in my binos a deer come out and he took a shot. Deer bolted and ran. I watched till it went out of sight, it didn’t act strange at all. Hunted the same place and another fellow came in to camp with a good sized doe. Hung it on a pole and proceeded to skin. He shot once but the deer had a fresh hole with little blood in the neck, his shot was in the boiler room.

Deer are not tough by any means. But the drive and will to survive are strong. I believe one should have some respect for the quarry. Most if any of us are not trying to make a living or feed the family this day and age.

You can drive tacks with a sledgehammer. Takes a while to drive a railroad spike with a tack hammer.
Use enough gun comes to mind.
Definition of “enough” always seems to come up in discussion.

I kill a lot of pigs with .223 77SMK 2950fps reloads. 26.5gr of CFE223 in a 17.5" service rifle barrel cut down for hunting. Center shoulder and neck shots on pigs up to 280lb. 10/10 pigs dont like that load. Any supersonic expanding bullet with 1000fpe at impact should be just fine for deer.
