22 CHeetah loading info

I've been seriously contemplating trying the old 22 CHeetah mk 1 out on a Remington 700 action I have and I'm wondering how difficult it is going to be to get it to shoot well. From what I can tell (and please correct me if I'm wrong): the 30 BR is a necked up 6BR, the 22 CHeetah is a necked down 30 BR.
My question is, Can I eliminate the middle man and form brass from the 6BR thereby reducing the "jump" down in caliber (avoiding those pesky donuts)? I hear plenty of guys swearing by 243 brass rather than the BR but that basically changes the nature of the beast and makes it a .22-.243 ackley imp rather than a true CHeetah. Just my feelings. Also, has anyone loaded for this cartridge and or have experience with the 90gr Berger VLD bullets? What kind of accuracy should I expect? and lastly, what is barrel life like if I were to run some heavy bullets (80-90gr) at relatively slow speeds (like 3050fps instead of 3500 as has been done with this case before)? Any info you guys might have on this would be appreciated greatly.

This copy and paste should answer your questions.....

The 22 Cheetah was developed by Jim Carmichel, shooting editor of Outdoor Life magazine and Fred Huntington of RCBS fame. It appears to have originated in the late 1970's. The cartridge is essentially a full length Remington 308 BR case, with a smaller primer pocket, necked down to 22 caliber, but with the shoulder moved forward. What you end up with is a variation of the 308 Winchester necked down to 22, but using a special match case. This is not exactly new because there are in existence several slightly different versions made by necking the 243 Winchester case down, and these date back to the early 1960's. However, the 22 Cheetah is an original with regard to the 308 BR case and its smaller rifle primer pocket.

General Comments:

The major difference between the 22 Cheetah and its predecessors are the use of the lighter, more uniform BR case, blown out 40 degree shoulder angle and short neck. In other words, the case has been designed to benchrest specifications. It also has a greater powder capacity than any of the older versions. There are actually two case types, the MKI with a 40 degree shoulder angle and the MKII with the original 28 degree shoulder. The 22 Cheetah is somewhat more powerful than the 220 Swift, but ballistics were measured from a 27 inch barrel. The cartridge has proven to be superbly accurate and a very effective 300 yard varmint cartridge.

The CHeetah doesn't use the 30BR or the 6mm BR case. It uses the 308 BR. Which is a full length 308 case with a small primmer pocket.
Some guys use case with a large primmer pocket for better ignition with some powders.

I resently bought a MK1 Cheetah On a Mauser action with a 23" heavy 12 twist Reminton barrel.

Does anyone have experiance with heavy bullets with a 12 twist? I've ordered some 62 gr lead core military bullets to try. Does anyone have a load for 55 or 62 gr bullets? The powders that I want to use are WC 852 (4831 data), Varget, RL15 and H414.
