22 BR-DX or 22 Dasher

Has anyone here built and shot a 22BRDX or Dasher with a fast twist ( 1:8) barrel. Intrested on what youbuilt and your results you had with your set up.

Looking more for the 80 to 90gr results than anything else.

A friend put together a .22 Dasher with an 8 twist barrel. He is very happy with it. Launches 75 A-max at 3250fps. Sends the Rockchucks skyward!!!

Thanks Terry

I have a 22BR ( though I have not shot it yet) was more intrested in maybe the improved version. Dasher or BRDX. (I tell you that BRDX is one nice lookin case in the 6mm version anyway)

I have a 8 twist Dasher. 1,000 yards is no problem
with the 80 gr SMK. I have not tried the 90's.
I hear you need a 6.5 to 7 twist for those to properly
stabilize. May try one of those.
Anyone have experience with the 90's?

Bird Dog can I ask you what kind of speed your getting with the Match Kings?
( There have been reports of a 1:7.7 twist stabalizing a 90gr bullet in a long bareled 223 rem. I would think a long barreled 22 Dasher with a 1:7 would work just fine. Maybe not? )

Thanks for the input. Im thinking the 22BRDX is not all the popular at this point. Intresting case. Hope someone hops in about it.

I been having an itch for a nice 22 centerfire. There was a fellow shooter on the Varmints Den sent me cases fired from his wildcat that was an improved 22 formed from PPC cases and had a 40 degree shoulder. Looked perfect for the .224 bore. NYstripes I believe was his handle.

I have two 6mm BR-DX rifles. I went with the BR-DX because of the longer neck on case. And because it wasn't very popular also. so fare its been a great round to shoot. I shoot a lot of 80gr Berger threw them. It will push the 80s just over 3400 fps with 33.8 Gr's of vv135. I don't think it gives up much to the dasher or brx. As far as the 22 versions my smith has told me they are just as hard on barrels as the 22-250. The guys he has built them for all went back to the 22Br apparently.

This is the 22BRX that Tommy Shurley ( http://shurleybrothers.com/custom-rifles.php ) recently built for me. This thing flatout shoots. This gun is much more than I expected. I have a 1-10 twist BRUX barrel for shooting 69gr JLK bullets. Don't think I'll be testing any new bullets for this gun in the near future. :) Tommy really does fine work as I found out with this build (my first with Tommy). Can't wait till Spring gets here so I can get to the range and do some shooting.

Very Nice.

Not to bad for a guy in North Central Arkansas... Just kidding Clayton ( Tommy) and I go back a few years. We met at the Little ROck Range in 07 i think.

I have a feeling there may be some huge disadvantages that have been mentioned already like rapid throat errosion. Maybe I ll just stick with the straight 22BR already chambered.

I just had Mark King rebarrel a 40x action. It is a 22 Dasher, 8 twist, Krieger barrel, with a McMillan stock. I am running 75 Grain A-max's at about 3250 with Varget. During load development and break in it shot multiple one hole groups at 100yards. I cannot wait to stretch it out when the weather gets nice!

How do you say? Potato...Potaato? There both the same ...... human error is the biggest threat!
