22 BR Barrel Length and Twist Rate

My next build will be a 22 BR Norma/Lapua. I have read the most recent 22 BR thread [5 pages] via the search feature!

My intended targets:

Steel out to 1,000 yards.
Coyotes at night out to 400 yards.
Groundhogs out to 600 yards.

Remington 700 S/A Clone
McGowen Precision Barrel
Diligent Defense Enticer LT-i suppressor

What barrel length and twist rate would you recommend?
I already have a 22-250AI 1:7 twist so I do have a decent supply of heavy for caliber .224 bullets.

Thanks!

Any bullets you shoot out of the 22-250 in 7 twist will probably need a 7 twist in the 22BR. I was going to say an 8 twist will be more forgiving on a bullet like the hornady 62 eldvt which will get to every point you listed. 80 smk will also shoot well. I’d definitely go with at least 26 inches and prefer 28.

That is what i use also. 1:7 30 inches long. For 1000 i use hornady atips with RL16

7 twist is for up to about 2950 fps.

A 22-250 will go way above that. My 8 twist shoots the poo out of the 88 ELDM and 90s with the 22-250, 22xc, 22gt etc in the 3150 fps range. I would not suggest a 7 twist for 22-250. A 7 twist is good for a 22 BR and 223.

2850 fps to 2920 fps is about optimum spin in the 7 twist.
