22 BR and Hornady 53g V-Max Load Data

Does anyone have any load data for the 22 BR and Hornady's 53g V-Max. The Hornady book has no load data for the 22 BR. What powers seem to work best? Is it best to jump or jam this bullet? I have a Rem 700 that was re-barreled by Jim Hart with a .254 neck, and a 1-12 twist. With a bullet seated in a dummy round all the way out and then loaded I came up with a OAL of 2.113 with the bullet touching the lans.

Ed: First off, all the load manuals that I know of will be listed with Remington brass because the 22 BR is a Wildcat. Keep that in mind when working with Lapua brass. I use nothing but Lapua. ;) All my rounds ar jammed into the lands .010.

My Accurate Arms Load manual lists the Hornady 53 gr. HP starting at 29.0 grains of AA 2230 at 2230 fps and 3617 fps with 32.2 grains of powder. That's a little on the HOT side for me. :o
AA2460 starting at 29.5 @ 3215 fps and a max at 32.8 @ 3653 fps. Still way to hot. :o

My Nosler load book lists a 52 grain (no 53 grain) HPBT starting with Varget@ 28.5 @3170 fps and 32.5 at max @ 3664 fps. And IMR 4895 at the same powder charge. Only 5 fps difference. No Hornady bullets listed. Go figure. ::)

Same in my Sierra book. No Hornady. ::) 53 grain HP Match King (Sierra) with IMR 4895. Start charge is 27.5 at 3200 fps. Max is 31.5 at 3700 fps.

Varget, IMR 4895 and AA2230 are all real close to each other. Go up in charge about 1/10th at a time or you'll have nothing but pressure problems. ;) Been there, done that. :-[ Start low and work your way up. HTH, Mike.

Using 53gr Sierra best groups have been with anywhere from 27.5 to 28.4 grs of 8208 and OAL of 1.990
I think seating depth with the 22BR is more critical than powder charge.

I've found out from "experience" that the 22 BR isn't anything like it's bigger brother, the 6 BR.
You jump .3 or .4 in powder charge and :o :o!! That's why I suggested only one tenth at a time. When the rounds start going in the same hole 8) 8). If you start getting real close, go real easy. ;) YMMV, Mike.
