22 - 6.5 x 47 Lapua Improved

Has anyone done an improved 40 degree version of the 22-6.5x47 Lapua? If so where did you get your reamer and dies.Is there any gunsmiths that has this reamer on hand?

Yes, I know of two shooters in Missouri area that are using them in 1000 yd. competition. Dave Kiff of Pacific tool made the reamers.
Their powder of choice is N-550. I understand that they are quite pleased with them. But!

I shoot the .22x47 Lapua.,I have three rifles with that chambering) The 40º Imp. only increases the case capacity 1 gn.
As it is I have to load down to keep from blowing the bullets up. It does not make any difference which name brand of bullet I shoot any vel. over 3400 with a 1 IN 8, 80 gn. Berger, Sierra or Hornady ). It's a RPM thing. I can shoot at 3400+ in the cool of the A.M. but my experience is after it gets to be around 80ºF. it would be best to slow them down to the 3330 range.
I thought at first it was my barrel a Broughton, so on the third gun I'm using a Barlien. The bullets blow up at the same RPM.

So, I'm not understanding the advantage of using a Imp. with this case.

I have a 20 x 47 AI Lapua if your interested.

Fred Moreo has one of those reamers. He said he was getting 3600+ with 69gr bullets out of a 9 twist if I remember correctly.

I think what John said said is spot on. I'm having some trouble with my 20 x 47 AI, and it very well could be the RPM. Same issue I had shooting 37 grain VLDs out of 7 twist 17 PPC. They were spinning so fast,400,000 RPM) that they were tearing themselves apart before they reached the target.

A 80 grain bullet doing 3400 FPS is moving at 306,000 RPM while a 9 twist barrel would be moving them at 272,000 RPM.
