22-250AI load help

Ok.. 22-250AI, 12 twist, bartlein or brux barrel...

Ive fireformed rounds using berger 52gr and beger 60gr with varget and reloader 15 both... neither combo did it like... fireform tested it at 300 yards.

I had a 22-250 14 twist once that LOVED berger 52gr varmint bullets... so i went with a 12 twist to try to get that 60-64gr bullet going in this ackley version...

I havent tried 64gr bullets yet... but any other powder reccomendations that work really well for the 22 250 AI?

Bullet reccomendations? Or am i in the right spot with 60-64gr bullets?

H414 with 55 nosler ballistic tips will be your best bet. That combo has worked very well for me in multiple rifles and velocities have been 4100+

I shot the old 65g berger in a 12twist 27" 22/250 AI with zero freebore.

37g of Win 760, fed 210, rem case was an extremely accurate(1/4"-3/8"-3 shot) load at 3700 fps, and this was a grenade on coyotes. Work up to this load in your rifle, especially if you have a fast twist.

Depending on my mood, I would fire form with 14g of Bullseye and cream of wheat or fire form while killing coyotes 42g of 760 with a 55g Sierra of sorts or a 55g Nosler ballistic tip at 3850, good for 1/2" groups.

For years I found VVN 150 to work extremely well in 22 250 with 55's although others said it was too slow. I also found it to be superb in 22BR with 80's. With what your talking about it seems it would fit the bill nicely.

IMR 4350 has been a stellar performer for me in a straight 22-250. Three different rifles, all under 1/2 moa. 38.0 grains behind a 55 Nosler BT 3,650 fps in a 26" tube. Lit by a CCI 250 or Fed 215M

55 gr Ballistic tips and H380 with CCI 250. Great accuracy. H414 is very close to the same burn rate, make sure you use a mag primer.

I have posted on this before but here you go:

1). Varget powder (Nosler's top book load)
2). CCI 200's
3). Nosler brass
4). 53 V-Max your 12 twist will love it.

Shoots just under 4,000 fps
Try CFE and Varget or IMR8208 all three powders work well but the Varget is best.

tell us your results!

I've said this a million times and ill say it again. If a 22-250 or an Ackley variant of such, will not shoot IMR 4064, throw that barrel away and get a new one.

I used IMR4320 IMR4350 IMR 4064 with fed 210 primer all work nicely in my 22-250 AI with 55 and 60 gr.
12 twist,, My 220 AI likes RL17 if i still had a 22-250 AI id try it.

I have had excellent results with Ramshot Big game. Meters like water and very accurate with anything in the 50 gr range.

I have my best results with Varget, but, H4350 has also proven to be excellent.

I have a 14" twist, so 55gr is the heaviest I shoot.

Cheers.
:D

My go to load for my 14 twist Hart barrel in 22-250 AI is a 55 Nosler Ballistic Tip and VV N150 powder.

What he said and...if you want a bit more "sneuse" you can go with VVN550 as long as you don't rapid fire much with it which could erode the throat more quickly.

760/414 is VERY easy on throats compared to 4064. For an occasional shot here and there it would not matter, but on colony varmints, 4064 was like shooting battery acid for my barrels...rock chucks, jack rabbits.
