.22-250 with Speer 75 gr Gold Dot (bonded)?

Speer recently came out with a .224 75 grain Gold Dot bonded bullet. This bullet looks like it would work excellent in a 8 twist .22-250. Has anyone loaded these in a .22-250? If so, can you tell me where you landed with a load and charge? I'd like to use either RL-15 or RL-16.

I spoke with Speer and they stated they have not tested these in a .22-250 and could offer no load information.

Sounds like Speer is trying to get some of the .224, 75 grain market. I think R 16 should work well in 24 / 26 " barrels.
R-15 might be to fast if you are after speed. I believe Sierra has load data for their 80's in the 22-250 which should be a good starting point for your 75's.

Id measure the bearing surface, compare it to another similar shaped 70-75gr (hornady 75bthp maybe) then reduce the load and go from there

I have worked with the 223/5.56 using the 62 gr Gold Dot and the 120 gr Gold Dot in the 6.5 Grendel. CAUTION You need to start pretty low with powder charges doing a load work up because with this bullet you will run into pressure quicker than with most bullets of the same weight. They have been very accurate for me and after shooting a deer with the 6.5 Grendel 120 gr at a muzzle velocity of 2550 fps impacting the deer at 111 yards in the chest facing me performance was AWESOME. It turned the chest cavity into chunky soup with no fragmentation of the bullet. Penetration was about 20 inches as the shot was from a downward angle from a shooting house the bullet exited the belly with a thumb size hole. Deer was BANG FLOP dead. I would like to try some of the 77 gr in my 223s but have not found any yet. From my research seems that these bullets are designed to perform at 223/5.56 velocity range. So that may be the reason that Speer has no 22-250 data and would not venture to give any information to you.
