22-250 win. brass

First i'd like to say hello to all. I'm new to the forum. OK now to the brass. I recently bought a box of 500 22-250 win. brass and as i was going thru sizing and trimming I sorted out 107 pieces with cracked necks. Was wondering if anyone else had any issues lately. The brass was from a recent run they made and I contacted them and they sent me 150 rnds to replace it.

I looked at my Winchester brass today. The plan was to trim to length and square up the top of the necks to an AOL of 1.910

All of the brass, out of the bag, was shorter than that, kinda suprised me. SAAMI standards is an AOL of 1.912

I ended up trimming all the brass to an AOL of 1.901 and even at that only about 25 casings did I get metal removal all the way around the top of the neck. The other 25 casings I would say I cleaned off between 25% and 75% off the "top" of the neck.

The other thing that suprised me was that most of the case heads were not square to centerline.

I have a good trimmer, the one from Sinclair with the bushing made for the caliber that rests on two round rails and is clamped down, it really is quite a little piece of art for what it does. But you could easily see when the case head was bumped up against the hard stop is wasn't square...is this normal?

I have been using factory ammo for my "once fired brass" up until now. This is the first time I have bought brass, unprimed in bulk.

The good news is there were no casings with cracked or split necks.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I'm not into neck turning but with the naked eye, the I.D. and O.D.'s of all the necks were no where near concentric...wasn't happy about this either...thoughts?
