22-250 lapua

Is it available and would someone measure neck wall thickness.
I'm taking a barrel to the smith next week for a 22-250 AI. The reamer I have available has a 256 neck and my loaded standard winchester brass is 251. would rather not work my brass that much when resized. I'm hoping the lapua brass will be thicker. Any suggestions other that changing reamer. thanks elton

ark cannot wait till that brass hits the self. what you discribe is .0025 per side on neck clearnce. when i make a no-turn chamber that is exactly the clearence i use. i changed brass on my long range bench gun and tolerence opened to .0035
per side . the groups got tigther shot 1.470 at 600yds. ibs shoot . i cannot imagine lapua being real thin on the case neck . i would run with it and hope it is not too tight . i should mention that i have fired countless rounds and spliting cases has never been a problem . also i stop resizing before i get to the shoulder about 1/16 short . Hey Guys,

just a heads up here, but the first shipment of Lapua 22-250 brass is being loaded up this week, and should arrive here in the US by the last week in May. Should be available from the usual suspects in short order after that.

Oh, the first batch of the new 308 Win Palma (small primer pocket, small flash hole) is on the same shipment, so if any of you are also shooting big bore stuff, here it comes!

A sample of the 500-piece shipment I received yesterday averaged ~.014 neck wall thickness, suggesting a .252 loaded neck diameter. One of my .22-250s has a .253 chamber. Either I continue to use Winchester brass in that one or turn necks.

Arkrunner, .005 clearance isnt a bad thing. Thats .0025 per side which isnt excessive in my opinion. If you looking to turn necks for concentricity and to uniform neck tention thats another thing. If you dont plan on neck turning I'd say you have a pretty good fit.

Good luck

Howdy _

Once you get the brass to fit your chamber, youy shouldn't have to FL size after that..... until such time that the cases " stick " ( too much ).

Do you have a shoulder bump/bushing NS die ?

If not, I'd recommend you get one of them hummers from Lonnie Hummel
@ Hornady.

This way, you won't be " working" the brass to much' as you keep reloading.

This is supposed to be the 'Match' brass with small primers, right? I'm waiting for this to be available to form 6.5 Creedmoor brass from, finally a solution to Hornady's soft brass for that cartridge.

The Lapua .22-250 brass is conventional large primer with .078" flash holes. You may be thinking of Lapua .308 "Palma" brass which has a small primer pocket.
