Coyote season is over here so I spent time at range with my 22-250 Ackley I had barreled last fall and spent little time fine tuning two loads for it for next season.
When comes to saving the hides it puts a limit on what bullets I can use so a little accuracy maybe lost and still keep good vel. for that bullet. I like the 52 gr. ELD by Hornady and does great job on coyotes with nice clean one-shot kills, that's what it's all about.
I do a particle full-length resize, so cartridge feeds nice and smooth into the chamber and then run it in a neck bushing die and reduce neck .002 below chamber spec. to give the neck better consistency. all brass is also annealed which helps as well. I do a quick primer check with two brands of BR primers and pick best load and then work just little on fine tuning seating depth.
Varget and N-540 both shoot very well and run about the same in performance so always have another powder to fall back on and both give high vel. for my bullet.
The rifle action has been all blue printed and trued years ago so nothing to change there. around 100 rounds through the barrel so far and this Brux barrel was one of the easiest barrels to clean up as well and glad I took time to lap it also.
With a flow-through suppressor its also a joy to shoot and can see hits on paper or on a targeted coyote.
The bullet performs like it should and taken one coyote at 460 yards, one shot and no splashes or fur damage the way it should be.
I can now put this rifle away in gun cabinet and start load work on my 204 and 224 valkrie and hopefully get that done before my new 22-250 ackley and 221 F.B. custom show up...
