You guys are joking, right? There is a good node with the 210s at around 2580-2590 fps with Varget in a 30" barrel and .180" freebore. In such a setup, you might also decide to run the 210s as high as 2630-2640 fps. There are a few people that have gotten decent results in that velocity range. However, recoil management is more of a concern.

Trying to hit 2680 to 2700 fps with H4895 is a bad idea and a potential safety issue. You're looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of 68,000+++ psi for a load like that. Most people don't even run the 200.20Xs that fast. Maybe it would be more feasible with a 32" barrel and about .220" to .250" freebore, but what's the purpose of trying to run a bullet like the 210 JLK that hot? You'd have much better results running the higher BC 200.20X at 2650 fps.

I ran Varget at 2640-2650 in a 32 inch barrel with Palma brass and Fed 205M. The load shot outstanding in that barrel. Normally H4895 runs a little faster at the same node. I tested H4895 as well and Varget shot a little tighter with the 210 JLKs so I stuck with Varget.

thanks Jade, so with H4895 thats about where I thought I needed to be, I’ll see if this barrel will let me get there

From all of my testing over the years I've come to the conclusion that Varget shoots better than H4895 with bullet weights over 200 gr. In all of my barrels at least, you may see different results. I tested both powders with 208 Amax/ELD, 210 JLKs, and 215 Hybrids.
