204 Ruger vs 20 Vartag

Looks like a fine example of an older M700 BDL. Wish I had kept my 1969 BDL 22-250 Varmint Special. Add it to the "down the road" list that I wish I didn't have. Gun-selling-regret is a terrible thing!

That's the look I was going for, but that isn't what it is, it's actually kind of a hodge podge of pieces. The action is SS and started life as a Rem VSSF 223 that I had. The stock is off of a Rem BDL 22-250 I bought in the late 90's that had been sitting on the shelf collecting dust since about 2000. Pretty much everything I have, except for a couple CZ 527's and rimfires, has a HS Prec or McM on it and I wanted this little 20-222 to have that old school Rem BDL look to it. I had it all cerakoted black and from a distance it has that BDL look but up close you can see it lacks the deep rich bluing they come with from the factory.

I have yet to go to the small case 20.
My idea, or maybe excuse is the small case for calm days. When the wind picks up go to the big case.
17HH, 17FB is fed 20 grain. The 17 Remington I run the heavies.

I dont see the point in worrying about a muzzle report unless a person is foolish enough not to wear hearing protection

Very true. I shoot the VT and 17FB at PD Colonies. My dad shoots 223's with breaks. He has double ears and I can shoot comfortably with only foamies all day long.
