204 ruger Berger Lee die.

I been using the 3 piece Lee 204 ruger. I have been getting damaged ends on some of the Berger bullets. So I got a 204 ruger rcbs Competition set. It's like night and day differents loading with it. I loaded up some rds for this coming coyote season. No more damage ends. I only loaded 100 rds so far. I wish I had when to a competition die yrs ago.

The comp die is worth the money, but bet if you clean up and polish the Lee die interior, it would stop your damage also.

If your Lee set has been giving you trouble all along, it might be that the neck tension has always been too tight.
If it has been trending as you get cycles on the brass, it could be the work hardening or the friction coefficient in the neck.

Maybe try and gage the neck ID difference between the two die sets.
Maybe try brushing the neck ID with graphite or moly some time.
