The 2023 IBS 100/200 Score Nationals were held this past weekend at Mid Carolina Gun Club in Orangeburg SC. The weather was great until the end of day 2, it really didn’t affect the scores, but, it sure made it suck gathering up flags in the rain.
Day 1 was a beautiful day and conditions weren’t too bad. If you’ve followed score shooting over the last couple of years this name is easy to recognize. In VFS Mr. John Cascarino creedmored Mike Clayton for the 100 meter win! Both turning in a fine 250-20x. Rounding out the top five was three shooters at 250-18x with Shannon Robinson at third, Keith Brock at fourth and Dewey Hancock at fifth.
In the 6 power Hunter and Varmint Hunter Will Till took the honors of first place with a 250-14x followed by Keith Brock right on his tail with a 250-13x. These two were the only ones to make it through the first day clean with the 6 power guns.
Day 2 started off overcast and we were in a race with Mother Nature……and she blessed us all the way to the end. The rain and wind was blowing in on the final couple of cards, but that didn’t stop Mike Clayton from putting up quite a performance. Mike ended the day at 250-12x at 200 Meters in VFS. Three x’s clear of the next four shooters log jammed at 250-9x for second through fifth. Following the creedmore the results were Jim Cline, Henry Neale, Brad Gollner and rookie score shooter Terry Killinger. Great great shooting by all these guys!
In 6 power Keith Brock took first with a very impressive 249-6x, followed by Dewey Hancock with an almost as impressive 248-6x putting both three shots clear of the field.
In the VFS grand agg Mike Clayton took top spot followed by Jim Cline, Terry Killinger, Henry Neale, Will Till and James Nierodzik all finished clean with a well earned 500!
For the 6 power shooters Keith Brock took first place followed by Will Till runner up.
I have just a couple of pictures, running two guns takes up all the free time. First is the Prize table big winner with a gift certificate from BAT Machine going to Mr. Bondy Long. Want to give a special thank you to Daryle and the whole BAT Machine team for their support and generosity. The only other one I got was of the match director Jim Cline. While running the match, running two guns and all the bench moves going on at a nationals, he had to wear a hat to keep his head on.
Overall we had a wonderful weekend, a great match and great food! Congratulations to all the winners and thankful I was able to join everyone in this sport we love!
