ATTENTION ALL 1000 YARD BENCHREST SHOOTERS!

As the club's Vice President I‘d like to ask you to consider participating in this year’s July 9 and 10 World Open competition. If you’ve never been to our club these two days are worth the trip and shooting experience. The two day, four target event can accommodate up to 144 shooters to compete in the heavy and light gun classes. That's a maximum of 288 guns! (144 in each class). We have a firing line and overhead cover that has 15 benches and we my be able to expand the target line to accommodate more shooters! We also have covered cleaning areas, camping sites, showers, and food readily available.

At the conclusion of the competition the top shooters in various classes are awarded merchandise prizes. This event has always proven to be a success due to the generous donations from the firearms/shooting industry. The club also purchases many items for awards table. During the match there will be other items raffled off to benefit the Club. Therefore, I am asking all 1000 yard competitive shooters to consider making the trek to Williamsport, PA to compete.

Additionally, if you are a business in the industry that wishes to donate and has not been contacted by me please reach out to to get your company involved.

Again, I would like to invite all 1000 yard shooters to attend and compete in this year's World Open. Come out and see for yourself what our "unique" wind is all about.

So please join us in some way to support the competitors of the 2022 Original PA 1000 Yard Benchrest Club's World Open. In my opinion this match is probably the best 1000 yard rifle competition held on one of the worlds' most challenging ranges.

If you have any questions regarding the club or the World Open, please do not hesitate to contact me, Eric Wolfgang, or Ryan Miller.
Detailed contact information is available at www.pa1000yard.com under the CONTACT US tab.

Applications for the World Open can be downloaded directly from this link:

I hope to see you at the World Open this July.

All the best,

At the conclusion of the competition the top shooters in various classes are awarded merchandise prizes. A point scoring system is employed to level the heavy conditions we typically shoot in during mid-day. The point system was decided upon years ago by an overwhelming super majority of World Open shooters.

Back to the agg system this year correct?

Unfortunately, yes. I am NOT a fan of the antiquated aggregate system and no further comment from me regarding the matter.

I edited my post and removed the point system notation. I forgot to delete that from my old content file.

Good catch Buck.

Considering attending this. We have no sanctioned matches that weekend. What’s the course of fire as far as record rounds needed for each gun and how many targets? Are there winners in lg,hg, and 2 gun or just 2 gun?

Thanks,
Justin Vance.

Andy,
Crouthamel Precision would like to donate an ammo caddy and flex-arm for the World Open. We will provide a certificate for the winner to pick the caliber and color. I will contact you next week on where to send it.
Thanks,

Erick Crouthamel

Clicked on the link......took me no where. How long do I have to make up my mind? Always wanted to go!!

Thank you Dave for helping with the link. After July 1 fees increase. You ou can register right up until the Friday the 8th, but that’s pushing it.

Would not miss this event for all the money in the world. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends. Yes sometimes it is nice to be at the front of the prize table pick line, but if you sit back and look at it realistically, there’s more to the event than that. Most who attend regularly plan and test months in advance, sometime you hit the combination for the weekend and sometimes you don’t. Ultimately, you always go home morally satisfied. Everyone knows that you don’t win all the time. It is no different than any other event in the country. We do it for the love of shooting.
