2018 Coyote season comes to an end!

You are the MAN!!

I am one of the ones who understands what an incredible amount of work that represents. From the prices you are getting, you must be doing a good job.

I'd also mention that any of you coyote hunters who don't save pelts oughta locate someone like the OP to donate your dead dogs to. God didn't make those pelts so purdy for the crows to pick them apart. jd

Ended my Predator Control season last weekend.

112 Coyotes killed and 67 skinned, stretched, sewn and washed made it to the Hugo Colorado Fur Auction.

Averaged $85.00 per Coyote, one lot of 6 went for $137.50 each.

Lowest Coyote went for $32.50.

Setting a goal of 100 Coyotes for the auction next year.
Would you tell us about your hunting methods morning. evening, nighttime hunting calling ect.? Also what rifles and cartridges did you use?
Drags

Drags,
Hunting begins at first light and the day ends at sundown.
15+ stands per day. Eat lunch on the run!

Pop over a hill, call for 15 minutes and then move on down the road

Usually takes me 2+ hours to get to my first hunting spot(s).
Southern Nebraska
SE Corner of Wyoming
NE Colorado

All day hunting, haven’t been night hunting but will be getting into it for 2019.

Day guns are pretty simple -
Ruger Ranch Rifle .223 with Hornady Superformance 53gr Vmax
Topped with a Burris 4x16x40mm

Savage .243 with Hornady Superformance 58gr Vmax
Topped with a Burris Veracity 5x25x50

jds holler,

My hunting partner does most of the leg work on the Coyotes, i help him at times and yes he does take it seriously to make sure we get top dollar for all the Coyotes. Probably over 1 hour of time per Coyote on average.

Most hunters around here are selling their Coyotes on the Carcass for any amount between $10 small early Coyote and $50 for a nice white furred up male.

Last year we decided to take our furs to the Hugo fur auction.
We sold most last year on the carcass and only sent 32 to the fur auction and averaged $72.00 per Coyote.

Of the 112 Coyotes, many had mange in some way, some were early Coyotes and some were damaged beyond repair.

I'll stick to what I said earlier. You're working your ass off for your success. Getting in 15 stands a day means you've got pretty good terrain, and you're wasting no time. I think that next year, you should hire a team of Siberian illegals to handle your pelts.:p It would leave more time for hunting.

I envy you the fun you must be having, and I hope you can keep it fun and not drudgery. I haven't done any calling for a couple years, since shattering my heel bone. When I get back to it, it sure won't be at the level you guys are at.

I'd love to see some pics of your country and hunts if you've got any. jd

Great job.

In high school I'd get up in the morning and dad would say "The are a couple of coon in back of the truck. Can you skin them before you go to school?" We froze them rather than stretched them.

Sounds like a good year.

Too much snow up here for it to be over!

Prices seem similar to what I’ve been seeing as well.

Good stuff!

Those are some great numbers I know how much work it takes. Our fur auction started today i have 156 coyotes, 26 bobcats, 19 grey fox so far coyotes are bringing about 100.00 average, cats are pretty steady at around 300.00 we will see what tomorrow brings.
