2017 Midwest Fclass Championship @ St Louis, thursday august 3rd

I want to thank everyone for putting up with me yesterday, it was the first time I had ever been to a match like that so I had a boat load of questions. A nice bunch of folks and some great food! I want to thank Mike for letting me shoot his rig, I don't know if I'd let a total stranger get behind my gun, but he did, two 10's and a 9, so I was pleased. I kind a wish he hadn't offered though...............I think the "bug" may have bitten me yesterday.

Yes it can effect you once you try it. I joined a local club that had a long range. I had never heard of F class. Within a month of joining, they held a wind clinic day. I went to learn more about things since all that I ever had were hunting rifles. It was mostly oriented to Palme shooting, but there was an F class rifle on display. They also commented that there was an F class shoot the next day. Super Bowl Sunday in 2 feet of snow, called the Frozen 600. I went to check out what it took to get involved. I guy talked me into trying his rifle when he finished. 3 shots is all it took, and I was sold.

I'd like to thank everyone that helped my wife and kids today. I wish I wasn't stuck out on boat, sounds like you guys had a great shoot. Don't know who was in the pits with my daughter, but she said it was fun. I think she enjoyed pits more than shooting. Congrats to other JR shooter that won. Some great shooting.
My wife wanted to give a special thanks to @Average joe and @Nando-AS for helping.

Thanks to sponsors, kids came home with a couple nice prizes. I'll get a pic of my daughter wearing that target. Lol
Dave, you need to get out and shoot with your kids,,,,,,,,, while you can still outshoot them! Which may not be much longer!

Yes they do. Looks like @Moonlight has a slightly different kind of problem on his hands.
Yeah I do. i kept wheeling over to see where he hit. And not paying attention to my target. Score shows it. Lol
Chole. Wow. I was scoring next to her on her last target. I don't know how you navigated those 20 shots down range in those conditions. Very impressive
Walker I hope I get the privilege to shoot next to you one day. Very impressive score.

I'll be home for September match, I bought another Borden BRMXD, Kestros stock and Brux barrel. Have to pull barrel off one they been shooting and recrown before next match. Got a lot of irons in fire.
Walker already beat me at Big Piney before I got on boat. He's usually asleep in 30min. driving, not that afternoon, I had to look at him in back seat for 3 hrs. smiling like the Joker from Batman

What a great shoot and shooters! As always, Joe did a great job,.thank you Joe for making this shoot happe. Thanks to all the sponsors and Congrats to the winners!

Jim, how was shooting Ftr different from open? I'm thinking of trying open and would like to hear your thoughts on the differences.

Congratulations to the winners! Impressive shooting overall.

Brian’s saga continues, and serves as an inspiration for what can be achieved with dedication, hard work, and perhaps a touch of natural talent?;)

Let’s also mention the three youngsters, as they represent the future of our sport:

Shane (11 yr) with 588-26X (High Master percentage)

Walker (12 yr) with 586-13X (Master percentage)

Chloe (13 yr) with 580-12X (Master percentage) This was her first match, and at 600 yards!

Thank you Joe for another great and well run match (and lunch!), and to all the sponsors.

Alex
Alex shane was looking for you afterwards and could not find you. Guess you slipped out. He wanted to thank you. He told me " this is so cool, I have a place for my shells and keep track of time".

Sorry about that; I had to go home asap to mow before it rained. Didn't quite make it, but got most of it done.

I am glad Shane likes the Caddie, and I am sure he will make good use of it - why, he may even share it when he is not using it!

Thanks for letting me know.

Let the bleeding commence. :D

Well...I need another match or two..the wind calls are sure different, and I learned that gun handling is very important as the gun jumps around a lot from a bipod. Have to learn if the setup likes being loaded or unloaded before the shot. I knew it wouldn't be easy...I personally think that it would a huge benefit for any shooter to swap classes every now and then. I feel that after shooting FTR, my open score will go up..if from nothing else relearning to make correct wind calls again.

I can attest to this. I have dabbled in Air Rifle, shooting from a sling and even Open in the last year to help with my FTR skills. In my opinion, while a great many of the core skills overlap, each discipline has elements of them that are more critical to success within that discipline and each have unique challenges (eg Open...Brian Bowling), but the cross training ultimately enhances one's abilities as a competitor. Just my 0.02. Welcome to the "other" Dark Side, Jim...Drew

F t/r or not.... That is the question. I talked to Jimmy during the match and he was really having fun with the challenges!
Alex Muller shot open this match... Maybe we need a rifle exchange program! Lol
